Hawaii vs. Hawaiian
The Associated Press Stylebook, known as "the journalist's Bible" because it is widely used by newspapers and magazines as a style guide and libel manual, has finally updated its position on the use of the term "Hawaiian."
While Hawaii residents have known this for a very long time, now everyone else will know that "Hawaiian" should only be used to describe the ethnic group indigenous to the Hawaiian islands, while "Hawaii resident" should be used to describe anyone who lives in Hawaii.
All you writers of screenplays and teleplays should also take note of this!
